With microsoft word, it is extremely easy to turn on review mode and add comments, strike out letters and add text, and it is automatically colored. With LaTeX, it is somewhat difficult. My students use two different Overleaf files, one having the edits marked in red and strikeout, and one fresh archive. Doing the same work twice is a hassle, so here I describe a method of LaTeX editing, where you can simply switch between “red-lined” version that journal wants, and your final production version.

The more senior one gets, probably more useful Word and Excel becomes. It is helpful to quickly search Google to find a correct answer to a problem, but sometimes the first result points to a StackOverflow thread where someone simply says “Why don’t you google it?”. So, I am posting this blog article to make life easy for me (as well as whoever stumbles onto my website). It would be some helpful macros and functions that I find useful. Some of the functions should also work with Google Sheets without modification.

Both the websites that I manage, the Department of EEE website and my personal website uses markdown formatting. It is possible to use images in jpeg or png format, but it is much easier to use inline description of an image. Here is a workflow that I found to be helpful. If you have a complicated table in word, you can easily include it inline in vector format
